‘I THINK’ remains one of my most accessible pieces, and one of my personal favourites.
‘I think therefore I am’
French philosopher René Descartes made this declaration that ended with the ego, but didn’t provide us with any intention. If we intentionally enact our thoughts, they begin to hold power beyond contemplation.
Procrastinators take note!
Living as we do amidst present day chaos, we might ask ourselves whether our thoughts are to be considered our own. Are we as individuals contemplative? Rational? Capable of sound judgement and reasoning?
As an artist I want to pose questions. Questions compel us to seek answers. The more we question, the more we begin to understand ourselves in relation to the universe, and all living creatures within. Mankind has pondered these ideas for as long as he/she has been conscious.
Living as we do in the age of the ‘individual’, never have these questions been more potent.
